Is White, Oblong And Reading Only 176 Be Right Generic Pill For Hydrocodone Taken For Post Polio Syndrome?

Hi, my mother is on Hydrocodone for her post polio syndrome illness. They keep changing the generic pills. I have to keep a close watch on her pills. We recently had a refill. This is for hydrocodone 10/325. The pill is white, oblong and only reads 176. Is this what I have described above? We have had mix ups at the pharmacy before and I just want to make sure this is the correct medicine. Thanks for any help!

Hi & Welcome.

The white oblong pills in the recent refill bearing the imprint of 176 are indicative of a combined medication containing Acetaminophen 325 mg and Hydrocodone 10 mg.

Hydrocodone (an opioid) is a stronger pain reliever whereas Acetaminophen is a less potent pain reliever that increases the effects of Hydrocodone.

This combination is used to relieve moderate to severe pain.

Hope this answers your query.
