Is Using Finasteride Safe For Treatment Of Hair Loss?
Hi Am 23 years of age i ve been using Finasteride for almost four months and have been adviced to take the same for the next 6 months to treat my hair loss problem. i am worried about the side effects of the medicine... pls do clarify the safer dosage period.if the side effects arise are they reversible.
I can understand your concern for hair fall and use of finasteride for the same.
Finasteride is given along with the topical lotions to reduce the effect of male hormones. It has a side effect of reducing the libido temporarily for short time in some of the patients. If a person has this condition then also as soon as the medicine is stopped you regain your normal libido again.
If a person has any side effects then rather than using finasteride I suggest my patients to use tablet containing Saw Palmetto tablets (Androanagen) which work like Finasteride but without the sexual side effects and can be used as intermittent or long term therapy.
In topical solution also I use the latest of compound with Biochanin-A which is natural phytoestrogen which inhibits both isoforms of 5α-reductase exactly similar to finasteride. There are no side effects of any of these therapies and have proved to be safest under strict dermatological supervision.
All the best.
