Hello
"PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE", pulmonary tuberculosis is highly contagious and infectious . This is caused by droplet infection from sputum of patient and also airborne bacteria causes tuberculosis . When a sputum for A F B +ve patient cough or talks to some one or sneeze or exhale air borne bacteria comes out from mouth and nose and spread into nearby air and in this way tuberculosis spread from person to person.
At least 4-5 feet distance is necessary for prevention.
Beside this linen , clothes , bed sheets , covers, utensils and bed sharing should be avoided till patient is sputum +ve for A F B.
Since your friend is living with you so if possible , change the room .
Second point in your case is get (these tests are for you for precaution) in XRAY chest , blood for C B C , E S R ( if very high e.g.> 100 mm in 1st hour ) , sputum for A F B ( if sputum present in your case.).
Hope this will be helpful for you.

i am looking for a surgeon that can fix my sons breathing. he has had 2 nose surgery s before and still can t breathe at all he says. he is 19 years old he has a deviated perforated septum plus allergies really bad witch caused a lot of swelling and blockage. he had the surgery to correct the deviated perforated septum a few weeks before his insurance ended. this was in September 2013. he went a few months later to check up on it. the doctor said it appeared that the deviation was closed and healed. ( by the way he had the back of his right ear transplanted in his perforated septum.) but the problem is that it has never stopped bleeding ever. since all of that time. ( do you think it is because it is a transplant that it doesn t stop bleeding? ) he does not blow his nose he uses a q-tip to get the boogers out. he has used a lot of creams and oils to help the inside of his nose heal but nothing works. also the doctor said while he was in surgery he realized he could not break one of the bones behind his nose so that he could breathe on one side. i asked why not? he said because my sons skull was not shaped right from the inside. so it was odd shaped. and he feared if he did break it that since it was so deep. he might make his skull collapse. i am not sure this is even true because i never saw a picture or x-ray. but my question here is he has medicade full coverage. who can preform a difficult surgery to help him. his nose is swollen again because of allergies and he can t breathe at all. he take the allergy shots to help cure the allergies since he was 9 years old and allergy prescriptions, eye drops excreta. had 2 surgery s already and still can t breathe. he just wants to breathe. is there a highly highly highly qualified doctor the specializes in this field? that will except medicade? we have utah medicade.
