Is Tightness In Abdomen Because Of Placenta Previa?

I am 24weeks +2days and my doc says I have placenta previa as I am only 7mm away from cervix opening. I am a smoker and 38yrs old. This is my first child (had an etopic at 20yrs old). Worried that I manot have a natural birth. I have another can in 3weeks...what if it doesn t move by then? I have had no bleeding, spotting ect. Just tightness in abdominal but forgot to tell doc yesterday. Will I need a c section most likely? And if so, how early will I have one?

it means that your placenta is lying unusually low in your uterus, next to or covering your cervix. If you're found to have placenta previa early in pregnancy, it's not usually considered a problem. But if the placenta is still close to the cervix later in pregnancy, it can cause bleeding, which can lead to other complications and may mean that you'll need to deliver early. If placenta previa persists till the time of delivery then you may need a cesarean section. In your case their is high chance that it will continue and be prepared for c section. Your doctor have done right thing and u definitely need a follow up scan and based on that they will decide what best can be done for you. If the follow-up ultrasound reveals that your placenta is still covering or too close to your cervix, you'll be put on "pelvic rest," which means no intercourse or vaginal exams for the rest of your pregnancy. And you'll be advised to take it easy and avoid activities that might provoke vaginal bleeding, such as strenuous housework or heavy lifting. Trust your doctor and they decide the best.
