Is There Anything Serious In Having A Small Soft Tissue Nodule?
I had got my mother admitted in the hospital for the following problems:
fever, dry cough and breathlessness. They have done several tests and have told us that all the reports and fine. I am giving the below report for a CT scan:
Age of the patient: 53 years
Gender: Female

C T SCAN RADIOLOGY
HRCT CHEST
High resolution CT scan of chest was performed.
Small soft tissue nodule (4 * 6 mm) with sharp margins seen in right middle lobe
Rest of lung parenchyma shows normal architectural pattern of the tracheo-brachial tree and pulmonary vessels, with no evidence of any other obvious focal pathology.
Pleura is normal on both sides.
A few small volume preaortic lymph nodes are seen
Bony thorax is normal.
Impression: Small soft tissue nodule (4 * 6 mm) with sharp margins seen in right middle lobe - ? nature
No other significant abnormality seen.
Suggestion: Clinical correlation and further evaluation.

She has an anemaic problem and had a blood transfusion in 2005 which had a severe reaction. After that now got admitted in the hospital with problems like fever, dry cough and breathlessness. a stool test was done which has come postive for blood loss. The doctors have suggested to meet an Oncologist for the problem.
They have asked me to move further with Endoscopy and Colonoscopy tests.
I am concerend with the above report which says there is a Small soft tissue nodule. Is this anything serious?

I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. You have small nodule of 4 to 6 mm size. Biopsy or fnac will not work on this nodule. Just monitor the nodule. For your blood loss you should investigate further. You should go for ultrasound abdomen and colonoscopy.
You may have some internal bleeding. Search for the cause and take treatment accordingly.
