Is There Any Side Effects From Taking Normaxin For Formation Of Gas In Stomach?

I have a problem of too much gas formation in stomach and gets trapped in chest and upper body; most of flow is upwards and with no smell. There is no indigestion. Endoscopy done thrice all found OK. I was advised Normaxin initially 3 times a day, reduced to 2 times a day and now once a day - all empty stomach. I feel better. I am now taking OD early morning for last more than a year. Is there any side effect of this drug? My age is 65, male.

Hello,

Yes, Normaxin may cause side effects. It contains Chlordiazepoxide, Clidinium Bromide, Dicyclomine and is used for peptic ulcer disease, irritable bowl syndrome, diarrhoea, anxiety, insomnia, behavioural disorders.

Side effects includes:
irregular or fast heart rate,heartburn,
eye pain, sensitivity of the eyes to bright light,
headache,
weakness,
nervousness,
difficulty urinating,
dry mouth,
vomiting, constipation,
confusion,ataxia
anemia,
abdominal pain.

Excess gas in the stomach can be caused by eating spicy /gas-forming food, stress, not chewing your food, digestive disorders or alcohol.
You should try to limit high-fat foods , avoid vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, beans and sweeteners like sorbitol which is found in candies and soft drinks. Try to limit amount of alcohol. Exercise and sports also may help.
