Is There Any Problem For Taking Methamphetimine For Pain?
Is it ever okay, under any circumstances to smoke methamphetimine for pain. My boyfriend who is an ex heroin addict whos been clean for about four years now recently had his gallbladder removed. He was given morphine in the hospital and upon release (without my knowledge at first) started smoking meth for the pain (or so i'm told). He says that in talking with his doctor she agreed with the strategy because it kept him from taking opiates and getting readdicted... Meth is highly addictive. What are you thoughts?
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.
It is definitely not okay to smoke methamphetamine for pain. There are loads of safe and effective pain relieving medication and using methamphetamine for pain seems to be just a lame excuse.
I'm also not sure whether there is any truth to his claim that the doctor agreed for him to smoke methamphetamine in order to keep him off opiods, because both drugs are highly addictive and can cause delitirious consequences. I would suggest that you discuss about this issue with his doctor to clarify his treatment plan.
Wish you all the best.
