Hi...my age is 26 weight 105 kg.Trying to conceive ,my periods are regular. I have consult to doctor, she advised me to do follicular study and they said everything is normal, ovaries are grown well but follicle not ruptured upto 19th day. I got my periods this month as usual(29 days cycle). Is there any connection between follicle rupture and Periods???. Now my Doctor suggested me to take glycomet 500..is it safe???

Hi

You have mentioned your weight.Kindly check your bodymass index. Overweight issues can cause hormonal imbalances ,diabetes due to insulin resistance. If the follicle does not rupture or release its egg, it instead becomes a cyst.A follicular cyst can result from failure to ovulate due to excess production of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) at the time of ovulation.

Hence you should definitely consider your doctor suggestion to take metformin since it reduces insulin resistance. To avoid any gastrointestinal side effects,it can be taken after food since it is usually taken before food.Although it is a anti diabetic drug,it also has an adjuvant role in hormonal imbalance in women.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
