Is There Any Big Difference Between Sulfites And Sulfates? Should I Take Tablets Or Liquid For Colposcopy Preparation?

Hello Doctor, I need to make a decision about tablets or liquid for colposcopy prep but I am allergic to sulfa the side effects from osmoprep, the tablets, are not comforting. Is there a big difference between sulfites and sulfates. Should I avoid drugs with those as well?

Hi.there is difference between sulfa ,sulfite and sulfate.Sulfa drugs most common cause af allergy.these are antibiotics.
Sulfate: are commonly used in the making of various drugs, thesse medications are possible to cause allergic reactions.
Sulfite:mostly use as food preservatives, you can get allergy when you have sulfite containe food.
Regarding colposcopy:it is a routine pelvic examination.colposcop it is like microscope it shows abnormal areas in cervix and vagina.it is diagnostic test for pap smear and biopsy.

The provider will apply a solution called acetic acid (vinegar) to your cervix. This solution helps to highlight any abnormal areas, making them easier to see with the colposcope. When this solution is used, you may feel a cold or slight burning sensation, but it does not hurt.thers is no use of sulfa drugs. since you are having allergy to sulfa drugs pease do avoid and every time when you go to doctor please do mention .
