Is There An Alternate Medication To Clindamycin To Treat Cyst After Draining?

I have a cyst and the doctor opened it to drain. He gave me 300mg of clindamycin 4x day. I ve been sick before from the clindamycin on 150mg. I m allergic to penecillin, sulfa drugs and it s hard to find something for me. However, cipro is ok with me, or will 150mg 4x day work ok. My cyst wasn t that bad and the doctor didn t cut it, just enough to pinch out infection. I was working with a PA not my regular dermatologist.

Hi.

You can choose to ask your doctor to change you from clindamycin to cipro, but the dosage is best decided by your doctor. But usually 500 mg twice daily should do the job.

Best wishes.
