Is There A Risk In Taking Doxycycline For One Month And Taking Aralen- Chloroquine The Next Month?

I am in Guatemala and I have one type of malaria medication doxycycline that I have not taken and will not start to take until I am in Panama. I only have enough for one month right now and I could buy more but I know I can buy here Aralen - Chloroquine for a third the price. My question is whether its going to be a serious problem to mix these two medications if I know I am going to be in a situation in which I won´t be able to buy more for two months. I think there is a common sense answer not to mix medications but if there is no problem with mixing these medications (mixing in the sense of taking on for one month until it runs out and then starting the other) then I will do it. Hi

welcome to health care magic.

i think u hav been prescribed doxycycline for malaria prophhylaxis as u hav been

travelling to an area with prevalence of chloroquine resistant malaria i.e.

chloroquine wont be sufficient to prevent malarial infection in u

if it is so,u hav to continue on doxycycline

It is not about drug interaction but the purpose of chemoprophylaxis of malaria

will not be served.

hope u find this helpful
