Is The Pain In The Hamstring Area Be Due To Injury While Doing Split?

I am a dancer and I went down into my right split 2 hours ago and heard and felt a pop somewhere in hamstring sort of area. it didn t hurt at first but It felt super loose and now its starting to hurt and I have a feeling it might be worse tomorrow. Any ideas as to what it might be and what I should do?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear Dancer,
Sensing a pop, loosening and pain after a while , all show symptoms of a Muscle/Tendon rupture.
Kindly get an ultrasound/MRI done of the hamstring of the affected thigh.
Meanwhile you can use over the counter Anti Inflammatory drugs like Advil 200-400 mg depending on severity until you get investigated.
If the tear is partial, it will heal with rest, drugs and physiotherapy.
If the tear is total, it might require surgical repair.
Either way we are sensing a 6 week rest period here, tops.
Kindly do not resume your dancing/other sporting activities, until your orthopedist clears you for the same after your reports.
Good Luck !
