Hi
Normally the placenta gets attached itself to the upper part of
uterus. In some women it can get attached to lower part of uterus when it is called low lying placenta.
In most women with placenta reaching internal os at this
gestational age, the placenta migrates up as
pregnancy progresses. There is only 10 % chance that it doesn't migrate up and remains in lower uterus in last trimester of pregnancy, when it is called
placenta previa. Therefore you need to repeat
ultrasound for placental location at around 30 weeks of pregnancy.
The risk with placenta prévia is that you may start bleeding any time and it can be severe. Untill you repeat your scan
1. Avoid intercourse
2.Eat healthy diet rich in iron and take
iron supplements regularly to maintain
hemoglobin level
3.Avoid constipation
4.Avoid heavy work
5. As much as possible Stay within 10 -15 minutes driving distance to major hospital.
6. Avoid travel to remote area or travel by air
7. Attend hospital immediately even if you have slight bleeding or if you have pain abdomen.
As long as you feel healthy and you don't bleed you can carry on with your light work.
After 30 weeks of pregnancy if there is placenta previa you need to be admitted to hospital even if you do not have bleeding as the chances of bleeding increase in the third trimester. From now on ultrasound should be repeated every 2-3 weeks to see if the placenta has migrated up. After 37 weeks of pregnancy if the placenta is still previa then you need to deliver by cesarean section.
grade 0 maturity of the placenta at 14 weeks pregnancy is normal.
I hope I have answered to your satisfaction.
