General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Ascoril syrup is an expectorant which is composed of: Guaifenesin, Terbutaline, Bromhexine Hydrochloride and Menthol. It helps in providing relief to a sore throat and cough, along with easy breathing by its bronchodilator effect.
Maxtra yyrup contains ingredients namely Chlorpheniramine and Phenylephrine. It has anti-allergic with decongestant action. Hence it is more commonly used for treating common cold and cough.
Since a single dose of Ascoril syrup has been given instead of Maxtra for your child, it should not cause any problem with it.
Kindly continue giving Maxtra syrup from next dose as prescribed by your doctor. Seek medical attention promptly if his condition does not get better.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
