Is Surgery The Only Solution For Pneumonia And Collapse Of Lung?
My granny is 96 yrs of age. she has pnumaonia and the drs have told us that one lung is collasped and is now hardening at the bottom. the other lung has fluid in it. they say she can not handle surgery and there is not much they can do for her now. how fast is this going to move and is she going to be in pain?
Hi, Collapse of one lung with pleural effusion of another lung at the age of 96 is a very difficult condition to be in. Surgery is definitely not an option at this age. However, the cause of effusion and collapse need to be investigated. A detailed history and report will help. Regards Dr Mishra
