Is Smoking Harmful After Taking Norlevo?

Hi, I would like to know if I should take NORLEVO on an empty stomach or after having eaten. Another question is can I smoke for the next 24 hours after taking the pill? Because I remember I took another emergency contraception pill and in the prospectus it said that it is recommended not to smoke or have drinks that include caffeine for the next 24 hours. Thank you!!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The tablet should be taken on an empty stomach (1-2 hours after your last meal) and you should continue to avoid eating for another 2 hours.

Smoking increases the risk of getting a blood clot or having a stroke while you are taking birth control pills, especially if you are more than 35 years old. You are strongly advised not to smoke.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
