Is Running Safe After Knee Meniscus Removed?

I had a 3cm bucket handle in my right knee menisus removed. They said it was a medial tear. Can I start running a month after surgery? My orthopedic doctor said that I should not run anymore. At 37 years old, I think this seems crazy. I usually run 3.5 miles 2 times a week, not a marathonar by any means YYYY@YYYY

Hello,

I have studied your case.

Bucket handle tear is large and you may not have left any meniscus inside your joint.
So it is better to protect your joint from future arthritis in present.Do not run now.

You need to do physiotherapy and knee exercises to improve range of motion .
You need to consult physiotherapist for rehabilitation.
Initially quadriceps strengthening and range of motion exercises are important later on against résistance theraband exercises.
Gradual walking can be done
Do, gradual stair climbing and take precaution while squatting.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.
