Is Recurring Pain In Lower Back And Legs Suggestive Of Osteoarthritis?

I have muscle pain in my lower back and legs. I had a Vitamin D deficiency a year ago and took a 50,000 unit dose once a week for 6 weeks and now I take a daily VitaminD3 capsule. The soreness went away but now it s back. I have difficulty getting up from a sitting position and I feel like I ve over exercised my muscles. I haven t done anything to over exercise. I garden, walk dogs, volunteer at a hospital, but my soreness appears to be worse each day. Not sure if this could be osteoarthritis now.

Hi.
I've gone through your query and I can understand your anxiety.

Chronic lower back & legs pain might be due to
-Degenerative disc or lumbar herniated disc disease, spinal deformities, Osteoarthritis etc.

I advice you to,
- take Analgesics & muscle relaxant thrice daily
- Also have antacid one table spoon along with each dose of above tablets
- adequate rest
-Hot fomentation to the back twice daily
- Avoid lifting heavy weights, bending or twisting your Back & sitting for long time
- physiotherapy
- if needed go for Xray of thr affected part.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.

Regards,

Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
