Is Prolactin Level Of 32 A Cause For Concern?

Hi there, I have been trying to conceive for 1yr n half now. Got my blood done & result came back prolactin 38. Dr wanted to wait another month & redo bloods. But in that month I have been taking vitex chaseberry, vitb6 and vitE to reduce it. Retest again & it s at 32! Should I be concerned? I have regular periods, think I ovulate ( cramps & ovulation strips are positive). But I m I really ovulating? Any other suggestions? Dr wants to wait for me to see fertility clinic so they can treat me but God knows how long that is. What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Prolactin is a hormone associated with milk production in the female. High level of prolactin is responsible for menstrual irregularities and ovulation may not happen. So kindly consult doctor for controlling level of prolactin. If you visit fertility clinic then also you have to control prolactin levels. But you should not worry much as it can be easily controlled with proper medicine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nirav Nimavat, General & Family Physician
