Neurologist 's  Response
Hello! Oxcarbazepine (Oxetol) is an anticonvulsant drug. In some cases it is also prescribed in bipolar disorder (psychiatry). But since the neurologist did the examinations you mentioned and prescribed that drug, indicates that's epilepsy he's thinking about.
Oxcarbazepine has different side effects, the most frequent are dizziness, vision disorders (double vision), headache, nausea, somnolence and gait disorder (ataxia).
XR after the name of the drug means it's a prolonged released drug and it can be used once a day.
If you aren't still quite sure and doubtful you can write to me again and describe the episode in details. I'll be glad to give you further information.
Kind regards.
