Is Nausea With Swollen Feet And Legs Normal In A Pregnancy?

I'm 37+2bdays pregnant with 5th, since dinner time yesterday feeling really nauseous and light headed when I am upright. Had really swollen feet and leg's yesterday but has went down alot today. Baby still moving but feels a little funny, not sure if it is just because I feel so nauseous though! Feeling a lttle silly with this being 5th lol. Had preeclampsia with first but all good with other 3 :/

Hallow Dear,

Though nausea in pregnancy is common feature, it is seen in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Nausea at 37+ weeks of pregnancy is rather uncommon unless there is pain in abdomen.

Moreover, swelling on feet and legs should be seriously taken cognizance of. Particularly with the history of pre-eclampsia, you should not ignore these findings. Though oedema on feet occasionally is physiological, it should not be labeled so unless other organic causes are ruled out. These include high blood pressure, pre-eclampsia, anaemia, urinary infection, diabetes, low proteins, etc. All these conditions can lead to nausea.

Please get your blood pressure, blood sugar, haemoglobin percentage and urine examination done. Depending upon the reports, the management would have to be planned.

Consuming banana in cold milk would help you overcome nausea.

Also monitor the wellbeing of the baby by daily foetal movements count. In 12 hours, the baby should move at least 10 times. If the count becomes low, you may have to submit yourself for Manning's score. Manning's score above 6 indicates the safety of the baby in the intrauterine environment.

So please report to your Obstetrician ASAP.

I hope this helps you.
