Is Loss Of Appetite With Nasal Congestion & Lack Of Breath Common Due To Pollen Season?

My face feels sunburned and hot but I m not sunburned. I just do not feel well in general. Some shortness of breath, lack of appetite, nasal congestion. I have type 2 diabetes and take medication for high blood pressure. We are in the middle of spring pollen season here and the cottonwood looks drifting snow. I m really kind of scared and don t know if I should call my daughter to take me in to Urgent Care.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there...

Yes, allergies could present that way.

Have you tried drinking warm water at regular intervals. It might help.
Do steam inhalation 3 times a day.
A tablet of cetirizine might help, if symptoms are due to allergy.

However, it would be better if a physician examinaed the chest to make sure there is no wheezing/chest infection, which might warrant further medications like bronchodilators or antibiotics.

Hope this helps.
