Is It Safe To Use Thyronorm Instead Of Eltroxin?

Is ok to use thyronorm instead of eltroxin? I ahve been on eltroxim 75 mg for a year with no complications, but then since it was not available on the market, I started on thyronorm. No complications so far, but I have a feeling that my periods are a bit delayed

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Both Thyronorm (Thyroxine Sodium) and eltroxin( LEVOTHYROXINE SODIUM/L-thyroxine) are same and contains same compound and have equal effect. You can take any of these two.
L-thyroxine is a synthetic thyroid hormone that is chemically identical to thyroxine.
Thyroxine sodium is the same synthetic thyroid hormone drug.
Thyroxine sodium and levothyroxine are simply different forms of generic "synthroid".
Neither is better than the other.
The bioavailability of each thyroid preparation is a little different. On a chemical level Levothyroxine is an isomer of thyroxine which essentially means that levothyroxine molecules are chemically the same as thyroxine molecules but take on a different shape than thyroxine; both have the same effect in the body on metabolic function.
