Is It Safe To Take Anxiety And Pain Pills Together?

Hi. im 30 y/o female that is 5 3 and weighs about 240lbs. I was recently diagnosed with anxiety/panic disorder. Also, had a recent shock to my system where i ve been battling really bad back/neck pain. tonite i need my anxiety med and pain pill. Is it safe to take both?

Hello,

NO. It is not advisable to take prescription pain medications and prescription anxiety medications together. I am assuming the Pain Medications you were prescribed is an opioid medication and the anxiety medication is in the Benzodiazepine class. These two types of medications SHOULD NOT be taken at the same time, they can cause a severe drop in both blood pressure and your breathing rate, and could even result in death. Tylenol or Ibuprofen can be taken as a pain supplement if additional pain relief is needed.
