Is It Safe To Take Xanax And Hydrocodone At The Same Time?

I took two Xanax today and just realized that I will start a new prescription of hydrocodon this Wednesday for a minor surgery. I was wondering if there could be any possible side effects or if it could be dangerous as they don t mix well. This is also the first time I have taken Xanax in a while if that makes a difference.

It is not safe to take these medications together.

Xanax (Alprazolam) is a benzodiazepine commonly used to treat anxiety disorders, panic disorders, and anxiety caused by depression.

Hydrocodone is an opioid which is commonly prescribed for the treatment of moderate to severe pain.

Taking Xanax together with Hydrocodone may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating. It may also cause impairment in thinking, judgment, and motor coordination which can result in falls and injuries.

You should therefore avoid taking these medications together at the same time or avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery.
