Is It Safe To Take Synthroid To Treat Hypothyroid?

I just had my thyroid tested, I m diagnosed hypothyroid on 75mcg of synthroid. I am obese, but so far no other obesity related illnesses. My fasting blood sugar and cholesterol tests were all within normal range. My TSH was 4 and my T4 was 1.3 for whatever reason my doctor decided not to order my T3 because she said she just goes by TSH and T4. At my previous doctor we tried to keep my TSH between 1 and 2. What are your thoughts on my levels? My hair has been falling out and I m having issues with my skin, as well as low energy. But my current doctor doesn t care about the symptoms, just the numbers even if they are the high end of normal, they are fine to her.

Hello,

TSH between 0.5-5 is normal. So you have a normal TSH value. But as you have symptoms, we need to rule out other possibilities also like the following:
1) Anemia
2) Nutritional deficiencies for hair fall
3) Obesity can cause PCOS that can cause your symptoms
4) Hormonal imbalances
5) Stress
6) Anxiety

TSH and T4 more important than T3. My suggestions are as follows:
1) We can add tab. Cytomel per day for 1 month.
2) If your symptoms improve, you can continue Cytomel.
3) You need to take tab. Trichoton daily once for 2 months to control hair fall.
4) Try yo reduce weight.
5) Consume foods rich in iron and zinc.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
