Is It Safe To Take Metoprolol ER Tab 50 Mg If The Label Is Same As The Previous Bottle But Shape Is Different?

Hi, I just picked up a prescription of Metoprolol ER tab suc 50mg and was concerned I may have the wrong prescription. The lable on this bottle and my old prescription are the same, but the tablets don't look the same. My original prescription are round pills, the new prescription are elongated (more oval).

Hi and welcome to HCM. If the content of the tabs are same i.e. metoprolol ER 50 mg then you can take those tablets. Most probably its a different company and it varies in shape and size and also sometimes colour. If you are in doubt please consult a local doctor and confirm the contents of the tablet, but if you can read the contents on the bottle and if its written same content then you can take. All the best.

Regards
Dr Santosh
