Is It Safe For A Child To Take XPRAB If Scratch Is Not From Dog?

hi my child is 4 years old ..got a scratch by a small puppy in his hand. We are not sure about the scratch, whether it was a dog scratch or some other cut. The doctor advised us to take 5 doses of XPRAB. My question is, is it safe for him if the scratch was not from the dog. ?? Thanku.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
Vaccine shots are not required if the scratch is not due to dog.
Even without dog bite on can take vaccine as pre exposure prophyllaxis.
If the dog is alive after 10 days of scratch remaining shots may be abandoned.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Please feel free to ask any more queries if required
