Is It Ok To Take Buscopan For Abdominal Cramps Due To Gastro?
I have been suffering from gastro, this is the second time within 3 weeks. Both my kids have had it off and on also but are now all good so now its my turn again to suffer from it. My question is, is it ok to take buscopan for the cramps? I do find it helps stop the diahorrea but didn't know if that was ok or not I only have buscopan forte on me. Thanks
Buscopan is a medication that is used to relieve spasms of the gastrointestinal or genitourinary tract. Because gastroenteritis is associated with spasms or contractions of the muscles of the GI tract, it would help with pain relief.
The most important aspects for treatment are: (1) fluid management to prevent dehydration and replace electrolytes loss with the vomiting and diarrhoea
(2) there are agents you can use to help reduce any nausea or/and vomiting though it would be best not to slow down the diarrhoea
(3)handwashing- it is normally transmitted via the hands to mouth. This is prevented by careful attention to handwashing during the day. After the bathroom , before food preparation, before eating
I hope this helps
