Is It Not Safe To Take Antibiotics When Pregnant?

Hi. I m unsure if I m pregnant, but possibly could be a maximum of two weeks pregnant, so not far. For one week I ve been taking antibiotics..metronidazole and DOXYCYLINe, for a urinary infection. I ve just read the leaflet, that I shouldn t take the antibiotic if pregnant. If I am pregnant will the antibiotic have any chance of effecting the pregnancy? I have a few days left on the antibiotics. Should I stop them now, or stay on them, as if I am pregnant I would be only two weeks...which means the fetus won t have umbilical cord attached yet ect to be effected by the antibiotics? Thank you

Hi,
Thanks for consulting us.
These antibiotics should be avoided in pregnancy. If you have missed your period & the pregnancy test is positive, you should stop them & consult your doctor for alternatives. However, if you have still not missed your period then you may continue with the course.
Take care.
