Is It Normal To Bleed A Couple Of Days After Stopping Menopur?

I wanted to know if it is possible to bleed, vaginally, after stopping menopur. I was bleeding quite a bit from the menopur but was told by my RE that it was normal because my hormone levels were low and the amount of menopur was very high, but could I still be bleeding from that four days after I stopped the menopur?

Hi,

It's possible to experience vaginal bleeding after stopping Menopur (menotropins) injections. Menopur is a medication used to stimulate ovulation in women undergoing fertility treatment, and it can cause hormonal changes that may affect your menstrual cycle. Bleeding during or after Menopur treatment is not uncommon and may be caused by a variety of factors, such as changes in hormone levels, irritation or injury to the cervix or vaginal walls during injections, or even stress.

However, bleeding four days after stopping Menopur may not be related to the medication itself, but rather due to other factors such as ovulation or menstrual cycle changes. It's important to discuss any concerns you have with your reproductive endocrinologist (RE) to determine the cause of your bleeding and ensure proper management. Your RE may recommend monitoring your bleeding, performing an ultrasound to assess your reproductive organs, or conducting blood tests to check your hormone levels.

They may also advise you to abstain from sexual activity until the bleeding stops or prescribe medications to help control the bleeding. If the bleeding is heavy, lasts longer than a few days, or is accompanied by severe pain or other symptoms, it's important to seek medical attention immediately, as this may indicate a more serious condition that requires prompt treatment. Overall, while some vaginal bleeding after stopping Menopur may be normal, it's important to discuss any concerns with your healthcare provider to determine the cause and ensure proper management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
