hi. noted history of jaundice and advise to go thru a laparoscopic procedure. are you experiencing any other symptom like abdominal pain, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, fever? have you had an imaging report that your jaundice could be secondary to an obstruction, specifically a gallstone disease? you might have an obstruction somewhere along your hepaticopancreaticobiliary tree, hence, persistence of jaundice. this may cause the inflammation and affectation of nearby organs such as the spleen, hence, the plan of management for you. do not afraid to ask questions to your doctor, especially if it involves a surgical intervention. it will really help a lot if the patient understand his condition and plan of management well. hope this helps. good day!! ~dr.kaye
