Is It Common To Experience Severe Pain In The Groin Area After An Angiography?

I had an angiogram on my heart done on Tuesday. I am having severe pain in my right groin area where they accessed artery and down my right leg as well. I am having trouble trying to walk. Is this common or a concern? And should I go to an emergency room to be checked out?

Hello!

Welcome on 'Ask a Doctor'!

I understand your concern and would explain that your symptoms could be related to a local infection, probably causes by the angiogram.

For this reason, I recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and inflammation tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR).

Hope to have been helpful!

Wishing good health,

Dr. Iliri
