One month ago, my husbands electrophysiologist reduced his elalapril maleate to 20 mg and also had him stop taking his digoxin. During that month he is in almost constant defif. He is a quadruple heart patient with a considerably large aortic aneurysym, as well. Can you advise?

Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Cannot say in his particular case. Most of my patients are off digoxin BUT they are put on other medications. Digoxin and ACE inhibitors may interact badly and cause increased potassium. Basically any change has to be followed up on to see if it worked.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Matt Wachsman, Addiction Medicine Specialist
