Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can high ESR (28)in the blood report optimal range is given as 0-15 mm/hr and positive ANA(1 in 100,coarse granular ,+) be a cause of infertility? I had one failed ivf cycle, even though prima facie cause of failure seems to be less number of eggs retrieved (only 3 mature eggs, total 5 eggs retrieved) and bad quality embryo(only 1 embryo formed that too grade B to C) doctor did some further tests and found about ANA and ESR issue so i was curious to know if these factors impact fertility and what can be done in view of these factors for success in next ivf cycle?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The only condition that would connect infertility with increased ERS and ANA would be antiphospholipid syndrome. In these case women have high coagulation status and pregnancies seize mostly in the second trimester due to not being well furnished with blood supply. We consider this diagnosis if a woman has at least 3 miscarriages in first and second trimester. In this case there are some blood tests done to rule it out and your doctor should be able to tell which. If you are diagnosed with this it is important to take treatment and this will reduce risk of miscarriage and also reduce your risk for thrombus formation.
Hope I have answered your query.
