Is Hemoglobin Level Of 6.2 Gms A Cause For Concern?

Hi, My wife s hemoglobin is 6.2 gms, she is 40 years old. She loses a bit more blood during her monthly cycle and does not take supplements. Now she is been advised to take Inj Orofer FCM. My question is about the dosage. The orofer fcm comes in 500mg/10ml vail preparation. Will it be given in Shot? Kindly advice

I have gone through your query. Your wife's haemoglobin is in low levels. In these levels iron injections are prescribed. If that is not helping then blood transfusion also will be needed. Injections can be given weekly once or as decided by your treating doctor. Primary cause for her anaemia ( low haemoglobin) should be find out. Mostly uterine myoma can give such problem in this age. So a gynecologic examination and ultrasound of pelvis should be done to rule out this. In that case myomectomy should be considered also.
