Is Head Injury To An Infant Dangerous?

My 16month old, very active boy climbed on the dining room table and fell head first on a toy car. The car shattered and now my little guy has a couple of scratches on his head and there is going to be bruising. I am applying a cool compress to keep the swelling down but am worried mostly about the bruising. I checked his vision, pupil reaction etc...and everything is fine. Do I need to take him to the ER? Should I wait a while and see what the true injury will be? Do I need to follow up with Dr? I am leaning towards waiting it out and seeing how truly hurt he is. Kids are fairly resilient and I tend to overreact when it is my baby.

Hello,

If your baby is taking breastfeeding or taking foods, Passing urine or stools normally ad it was before. His/Her activeness is same as it was before, and there are no any vomitings. If the answer for all the above is "Yes everything is normal" then relax down no need to worry much, Swelling comes down in a few days. But if the answer is "no" then you need to immediately rush to report ER physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah
