Is Fatigue And And Breathing Problem Due To Low Thyroid?
Hi Doctor,
I am a 51 year old woman, about 5'4 and weigh about 118 pounds. I've always been in very good health until about three weeks ago. I became VERY fatigued, had trouble breathing and was lightheaded. Went to the doctor and was diagnosed with low thyroid. I've taken about 8 pills now but still have trouble breathing and a bit lightheaded. Although the fatigue is getting better. Doc. says she doesn't think it has to do with the thyroid and should maybe get a chest x-ray. But I've read plenty on-line that says it could be a symptom. When I went in initially they listened to my breathing and check my heart and it all came out perfect. What do you think?

Thank you for expressing your problems.Now that you have been found to have thyroid deficiency and you are middle aged little detailed heart examination like ECG and Tread meal test if necessary .People with low thyroid levels tend to have raised lipid levels and may have problems in blood supply to heart which may give rise to breathlessness on exertion
