Is Erythema Nodosum A Side Effect Of Mirena?

I recently got the Mirena within the last month and erythema nodosum developed. I was diagnosed with this years ago when I was taking birth control pills. When I stopped the pills erythema nodosum stopped as well. Can Mirena be a side effect of this and if so, should I expect it to last the entire time I have the mirena?

Hi welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for trusting us to solve your query.
If such a patient comes to my clinic, I would first confirm the diagnosis. Hence I would like to ask you how did you confirm this time that it is erythema nodosum? Has it been examined by a healthcare professional?
Erythema nodosum can occur due to a variety of causes and Mirena is one unlikely cause. Most common cause is bacterial infection like Streptococcus.
Do write to us for any other queries.
Wishing you good health!
