Is Draining Blood From Ears After Drained Bunch Of Mucus And Crud Due To Infection While Being On PET Tubes Normal?

My son has PET tubes placed in both ears, and just recently was dx with an ear infection. The tubes seem to be working, they drained a bunch of mucus and crud out...we thought he was about over the infection, but now he is draining blood?? Is this normal? He has a long history of ear infections...
