Is Cleaning With Neosporin Sufficient After Being Pricked By A Needle?

I just pricked my finger with my cats subcutaneous needle. I put the needle in The first time and the fluid leaked out. I tried again and administered the fluids correctly. When I shut the fluid off and pulled out the needle it pricked my finger. I immediately washed my hands with soap and cleaned it out with alcohol and applied neosporin. Is this ok?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

As the needle has pricked the finger, tetanus prophylaxis is a must.

Another need of anti-rabies vaccine depends upon the vaccination status of the cat and the same should be discussed with your consultant surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
General Surgeon
