Is Chemotherapy Only Solution For Leukemia?
Dear Doctor
My son Master Gavin Rodrigues of four and a half years is suffering from "ALL" Leukemia, since two yrs now and under going the treatment with Tata Hospital. He has completed already 6 chemotheraphy and two more are reamining. Can you advise us if there is any other drug which is oral rather than the chemo injections which he has to undergo. We are not sure if there are any more chemo injections left for him, he will be visiting Tata in Ocotber 2010 for his his seventh Chemotheraphy.

chemotherapy is the safest and most promising treatment for ALL. there is no other treatment with such success rate. will suggest strongly to continue therapy as per suggestions of TATA centre.

Treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia depends on stage of disease and blast percentage. However overall stem cell transplantation is the treatment of choice. Other options are chemotherapy. Dosage of chemotherapy depends on stage, blast percentage and response. Consult your doctor and take treatment accordingly.
