Is Blood Test Showing Polymorph 77, Lymphocytes 18 And MCHC 35.7 A Cause For Concern?
Hello Doctor, First of all I would like to Thank you for providing online help. My question is for my brother. He fells I ll often and temperature goes 102 and above. Till now my family Dr. Used to give him Crocin tablets which used to work sometime. This time when he fell ill we got his blood test and the reports are showing following abnormalities given below: Polymorph- 77 Lymphocytes- 18 M.C.H.C- 35.7 Kindly let me know why this happens? Is there any thing to bother with?
Here percentage of polymorph is a bit higher (hence lymphocyte proportionately lower). These are two types white blood cells. MCHC is anyhow still within normal limits only.
Any significance of this report depends on the total white cell count, platelet count and associated symptoms other than fever. When there is an infection or inflammation in our body, white cell count increases.
Proportion of polymorphs and lymphocytes varies depending on the type of infection. Usually bacterial infections causes high polymorphs and viral infections and non infective chronic inflammations causes high lymphocyte count. Your doctor will discuss with you.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
