Is Being Exposed To Chickenpox Virus During Pregnancy Risky?
My daughter is 18 months and we visited a friend yesterday whose little boy came out in chicken pox shortly after we left. I know my daughter has now been exposed to the virus but is it dangerous to a 13wk pregnant person or a 3 month old baby as they are due to visit and I don t want to infect them if it s dangerous?
It is very likely that your 18 months young daughter will contact chicken pox. Better take her care and see that chicken pox if she develops does not become serious.
Moreover, she should not be exposed to the other children nor to the other pregnant women as exposure to chicken pox during pregnancy carries the risk of abnormalities in the baby.
So please restrict her to the house only till she is cured, to avoid exposure to the others as well as to avoid any complications like superadded infections to her chicken pox.
I hope this serves the purpose.
