Is Abdominal Swelling Normal After Ovarian Cyst, Hernia And Appendix Removal?
Hi I had an operation on the 5th of September ,I had an erupted cyct on my ovary,a hernia and my appendix removed . Is it normal that I can t fit into my cloths and they are tight just around my belly and my belly seemes bigger. And getting back to work next week is ok ?
Hello there, thanks for posting your question. You haven't mentioned how long it has been since surgery and whether it was a key hole surgery or open surgery. If your concern is just a big belly, it is quite possible that it could be because of abdominal distention due to intestinal gas or reduced motility due to surgical handling. But if your distention is associated with other complaints like pain, fever, giddiness then it would be a medical emergency and you need to report to ER for evaluation as it could be a complication of surgery. But in all probability, I think it is fine to have that minimal amount if distention following surgery for three different reasons. But do bear the above mentioned signs in mind and act quickly if needed. Hope this helped. Take care!
