Is A Narrow Slit Like Hole In Right Tonsils A Cause For Concern?
Hey doc, I have what appears to be a slit or very narrow hole in my right tonsil but have no white spots or puss balls that I can see personally. My tonsil appears to be the same size as my left which is perfectly fine, and I wouldn t say I feel pain persay when I swallow on a pain scale it s probably like a 2-10 more of an annoyance than anything, so mypoint is did I get a tonsil stone and swallow or cough it up in my sleep or something I feel fine physically and it s been 3-4 days so I can t imagine it getting worse. So the real question is will my tonsil heal up or will the inch or so long slit/narrow hole be there permanently, calling for tonsil removal or active cleaning of my tonsil or anything like that?

A clinical assessment is required to assess the nature and extent of slit on the tonsils.
The tonsillar surface is not smooth.
It has an irregular surface and there is presence of large number of slits on the surface.
However, whether the slits are normal finding or due to some kind of disease process, can be determined only by clinical assessment.

Your symptoms are suggestive of tonsillitis.You may need a course of antibiotics and analgesics,if still symptoms persist tonsillectomy is advisable.thankyou
