Is A Microwave Procedure Or Drug Effective In Preventing The Blockage In Urine Flow?

Hi, my urine flow recently became completely blocked. The Urologist put me on Jalyn for 6 days. When that didn t work he wants to do a transurethral microwave thermotherapy. Do you think that is enough time to see if a drug works and does the microwave procedure have a good record for results. Thanks

Urologist 's  Response
I believe u mean to say that u suffered acute retention of urine and was put on catheter along with Jalyn. Voiding trial failed after 6 days. If this is the scenario, then yes u require surgery for BPH.
the other scenario when u were voiding and put on Jalyn, then 6 days are very less to decide upon the efficacy of medical treatment. At least wait for a month on drug, then go for Uroflowmetry and Ultrasound for PVR to fecide upon further course of management.
Microwave surgery for BPH is one of the types of efficacious surgery for BPH
