Is A Chest X-ray Report A Concern When Non-homogeneous Opacity With Volume Loss Is Seen With Few Cystic Densities?

Hello doctor, My father s CXR (PA) report shows Non homogeneous opacity with volume loss is seen in right upper zone with few cystic densities suggestive of consolidation. Remaining lung field appears normal. Both costo phrenic angles are clear. Please advise.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This report shows that there is infection in right lung. You need to get blood/sputum cultures to initiate appropriate therapy. You also need to consult your pulmonologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As there is consolidation, it means there is possibility of pneumonia or tuberculosis. Better diagnostic is HRCT scan chest. I will recommend Hb, TLC ,DLC , ESR , CRP and sputum examination for AFB besides mantoux .

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
