Is A Bruised Indentation In The Knee Cap A Concerning Matter?

I fell on a patch of ice last friday and went to the doctor this past monday (it was still badly bruised and swollen) and was told I have tendonitis of the patellar tendon. It is a few days after, and it is still a little swollen, tight, bruised, and I feel a small hole in my kneecap. Am i ok?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your description, it seems like you have mild contusion on your knee cap. No need to worry and it will subside with conservative management. You can take analgesics, like Paracetamol or Ibuprofen for pain. Anti inflammatory drugs like Serratiopeptidase, which can help reduce swelling and inflammation. Apply ice packs. Immobilize the leg for a week. If symptoms persists, then consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
