Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I work at a daycare and one of my parents is treating their child s teething with round the clock Tylenol. They give him a dose before he s dropped off, then come on their lunch break and give him another, and more at home. This is concerning for me to keep a child constantly drugged like this. The child is one years old. He doesn t have a fever either. My question is what are the effects this can cause? Serious damage occur?
Tylenol contains acetaminophen and the child is only one year. So the dose of acetaminophen may be large and the baby may be at risk of developing an acute liverinjury.
The parents of the baby should immediately contact a doctor and stop giving Tylenol the baby.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Anila Skenderi, General & Family Physician
